New & Improved! The PaverEXTRACTOR now has a locking device. Just set the opening between the teeth for the paver to be extracted and squeeze the handles together. The locking device will keep constant pressure on the paver, making it easier for the operator to rock & lift the paver out.
Why risk damaging surrounding pavers by using screwdrivers? The PAVEREXTRACTOR is the professional’s answer to paver removal. The serrated, spring steel teeth allow extraction of most pavers including pavers w/o spacer bars.

1. In the event pavers on an existing application need to be extracted, pour water around the joint. Then tap the paver to be extracted and the pavers surrounding it. This will help loosen the paver.
Remember, if removing a paver from a recessed area, pull pavers from high spot and work down to the recessed unit.
2. When it is time to set-up the PAVEREXTRACTOR, first remove the QUICKPIN. Then line up the teeth with the joint and hammer both ends down until the frame is tight to the top of the paver. It is critical that the teeth are down as far as possible. The PaverEXTRACTOR will touch the top of the pavers on both ends when properly inserted (as shown).
3. Next, insert the QUICKPIN. The holes on the slide and bar are offset for precise handle width. The width should allow both handles to be squeezed with one hand without touching when force is applied.
| 4. Squeeze the handles together and begin to rock the PAVEREXTRACTOR back and forth in the direction of the teeth, not side to side, while lifting up. Work slowly and do not try to pull the paver straight out. If the PAVEREXTRACTOR starts to slip off the paver stop lifting, let the paver drop back down. If the extractor is allowed to slip off the paver with full force applied to the teeth, they will either straighten or break. In either case the teeth will need replacement. Hammer the PAVEREXTRACTOR back down, and then begin lifting again. |
5. When the paver is difficult to extract, stop occasionally and tap the surrounding pavers. The process can be sped up by having one crew member work the PAVEREXTRACTOR while a second taps the surrounding pavers. Many times, there is so much interlock, the surrounding pavers are being lifted along with the paver being extracted.
6. Continue removing pavers in the same fashion when the surrounding area is in need of repair. Replace with new paver(s) and sweep sand over the top. Take a piece of 2 x 4, place it over the new paver(s) and hammer with a mallet down the board’s length, moving the 2 x 4 around the area. This will act as the compactor did during the initial installation. Fill the joints with sand.
