PaverDETERGENT is a specially formulated mix of detergents and mild acids designed for removal of oil, grease and other stains from concrete and clay pavers. It is safe and effective for use on sealed and unsealed pavers. Best results are achieved when spills are cleaned as soon as possible after the incident. PaverDETERGENT also works great for cleaning the entire paver surface before resealing with PaverGUARD, PaverRE-GUARD, PaverECOGUARD or SiloxaGUARD. See “PAVE TECH’s PAVE CHEM Resealing Guidelines” for instructions on how to use PaverDETERGENT for pavement cleaning before resealing.
PaverDETERGENT Instructions
CAUTION!
Before using PaverDETERGENT, be sure to read all instructions on the label and take to proper precautions when handling and applying. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Always wear protective eye glasses, rubber boots and gloves when using. Make sure to check tightness of lids before transport or handling. Do not allow PaverDETERGENT to be stored or come into contact with metals or strong oxidizers. Keep out of reach of children. Thoroughly rinse empty containers with water and dispose of according to federal, state and local regulations.
As with all cleaners containing acids, a test for surface and color reaction with the pavers should be conducted in an inconspicuous place before applying to the entire area.
Preparation:
1. If the oil, grease or food spill has just occurred, first try to absorb or clean off as much as possible.
2. Pre-wet the area to be treated, very hot water is recommended.
Application:
1. Wearing the proper eye and skin protection, apply PaverDETERGENT generously to the stain. Do NOT dilute, pour straight from the bottle.
2. Using a stiff, synthetic fiber brush, immediately scrub the stain for 1 minute. Do not use a metal bristle brush.
3. Rinse thoroughly with hot water and allow area to dry.
4. If the stain is severe, more than one application may be required.
Note: If stain is very severe or is a non-petroleum stain (rust, fertilizer, or other chemicals), use PaverDE-STAINER instead.
If the pavers are being cleaned in preparation for sealing, spot clean all oil, grease and food stains with PaverDETERGENT before application of PaverPREP Efflorescence Cleaner. If the petroleum stain is on unsealed pavers and has been left untreated for a long time, complete removal of the stain may not be possible. If PaverDETERGENT or PaverDE-STAINER can not clean the stain to meet approval, consider replacing the paver(s) before application of PaverPREP.
Clean-up:
1. While still wearing eye and skin protection, thoroughly rinse the scrub brush with clean water. Also, with the lid securely on, rinse off the outside of the PaverDETERGENT container to clean off any acid that may be present.
2. If the PaverDETERGENT container is empty, thoroughly rinse out the inside of the bottle with clean water. Then rinse off the outside of the container and the lid and dispose of properly.
Separate Application Guides and MSDS Sheets are available for PaverGUARD, PaverRE-GUARD, PaverECOGUARD, SiloxaGUARD, PaverPREP and PaverDE-STAINER. Contact your dealer or PAVE TECH for a copy.
