PaverDE-STAINER is an extremely strong inorganic acid, also blended with wetting agents and detergents. It is designed for removing non-petroleum, non-food stains (rust, fertilizer, other chemicals) from the surface of concrete and clay pavers. PaverDE-STAINER should be used to clean severe stains before cleaning the pavers with PaverPREP and sealing with PaverGUARD, PaverECOGUARD or SiloxaGUARD.
PaverDE-STAINER Instructions
CAUTION!
Before using PaverDE-STAINER, be sure to read all instructions on the label and take to proper precautions when handling and applying. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Always wear protective eye glasses, rubber boots and gloves when using. Make sure to check tightness of lids before transport or handling. Do not allow PaverDE-STAINER to be stored or come into contact with metals or strong oxidizers. Keep out of reach of children. Thoroughly rinse out empty containers with water and dispose of according to federal, state and local regulations. PAVE CHEM’s strongest acids are colored for identification purposes in the event of a missing label. PaverDE-STAINER is red; PaverPREP is blue.
As with all cleaners containing acids, a test for surface and color reaction with the pavers should be conducted in an inconspicuous place before applying to the entire area.
Preparation:
1. Pre-wet the area to be treated, including the immediate surrounding pavement, with water as well as any adjacent buildings, retaining walls and plantings.
Application:
1. Wearing the proper eye and skin protection, apply PaverDE-STAINER generously to the stain. Do NOT dilute, pour straight from the bottle.
2. Wait 1 minute, then using a stiff, synthetic fiber brush, scrub the stain. Do not use a metal bristle brush; the bristles can fall off causing rust stains.
3. Rinse thoroughly with water and allow area to dry.
4. If the stain is severe, more than one application may be required. Do not repeat more than (3) times, as surface texture and color may be overly affected.
Note: If the stain is a fresh petroleum stain, try using PaverDETERGENT or a liquid detergent. PaverDE-STAINER is very strong and is not recommended to remove oil, grease and food stains. If the pavers are being cleaned in preparation for sealing, spot clean all severe non-petroleum stains with PaverDE-STAINER before application of PaverPREP Efflorescence Cleaner.
If the stain is on unsealed pavers and has been left untreated for a long time, complete removal of the stain may not be possible. If PaverDETERGENT or PaverDE-STAINER can not clean the stain to meet approval, consider replacing the paver(s) before application of PaverPREP. PaverDE-STAINER product will affect the color and surface of pavers.
Clean-up:
1. While still wearing eye and skin protection, thoroughly rinse the scrub brush with clean water. Also, with the lid securely on, rinse off the outside of the PaverDE-STAINER container to clean off any acid that may be present.
2. If the PaverDE-STAINER container is empty, thoroughly rinse out the inside of the bottle with clean water. Then rinse off the outside of the container and the lid and dispose of properly.
